Charter Summary:
~4 main rules
1) NO TRUSTEE COULD OWN LAND OR HOLD OFFICE-
Such limitations prevented leadership from becoming currupt and kept the colony from becoming a region of large plantation.
2) NO CATHOLICS-
Protestan nations and Cahtolic nations seldom got along, since England was Protestant it did not want Catholics in Georgia who might cooperate with Catholic Spain.
3) NO LAWYERS-
The leaders wanted the colonists to learn to settle disputes among themselves rather than in court.
4) A COMMON COUNCIL-
The council consisted of 15 men, at least 8 of which had to be present for discussions to be made. Oglethorpe was seen as the true leader of the colony.
